FIU Foundation Year-End Deadlines
To
facilitate the timely and accurate closing of the June 30, 2013 fiscal year,
the FIU Foundation, Inc. is asking for
your assistance. Below is the closing
schedule for the different transactions. You will also note that these deadlines are in accordance with the University’s
year-end deadlines. Please share this

Year End Deadlines:
June 10, 2013 – Last day to submit DSO
Reimbursement requests to FIU Foundation for expenses posted by May 31, 2013.
June 14, 2013 - All disbursement requests for
purchases, services or employee expense reimbursements (T&E ) related to the 2012-13 fiscal year
must be submitted to the Foundation Business Office. Any payment requests related to the current
fiscal year received after that date may be delayed or returned unpaid.
June 28, 2013 - Last day to submit deposits, internal
transfer requests and any correction journals. Please review and reconcile your
projects and verify that they have been recorded accurately to the respective
funds.
July 22, 2013 - General ledger is scheduled to be
closed by the end of the day, however, it will not yet include final investment
returns or distribution of investment income and administrative fees charged to
endowments that are not
underwater. Once the Foundation receives
all final investment management statements for the month of June (expected
sometime in August); the ledger will be reopened and these entries will be
recorded as of June 30, 2013.

Florida International University Foundation, Inc. (FIU Foundation) was established in 1969 to encourage, solicit, receive and administer gifts for scientific, educational and charitable purposes for the advancement of Florida International University and its objectives. It is registered by the State of Florida as a charitable organization and is approved by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation has also been certified as a Direct Support Organization (DSO) of Florida International University as defined in Florida Statue 1004.28.
The FIU Foundation is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors, whose members play a significant role in the development of the University as a major educational, cultural and economic resource. Through the involvement of the Directors and their contribution of time, leadership and financial resources, the mission of the University is advanced.
The Foundation's corporate affairs are managed by Howard R. Lipman, President & CEO. The Foundation's business office is managed by Interim Assistant Treasurer and Controller, Milagros Garcia Chica, along with Marisel Lieberman, Assistant Director for Budgeting & Investments. Hope Herman is the Director of Foundation Board Relations and is assisted by Patricia L. Mauter, Coordinator.
