David F. Alfonso (FIU, BA, ‘96)
Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Investment Holdings, a private investment firm that focuses on acquisition and strategic management of corporate divestitures. Mr. Alfonso has over twenty years of merger, acquisition and operational experience, having completed more than forty transactions. He has acted as portfolio manager of a highly diversified group of thirty companies, which were acquired business units from the Fortune 1000, with aggregate annual revenues of over $5 billion and 15,000 employees worldwide. Mr. Alfonso has extensive international experience in Asia, Latin America and Europe. As chairman of the board of Empire Investment Holdings, Mr. Alfonso is responsible for overseeing all strategic development and direction of the firm and its portfolio companies. Prior to establishing Empire Investment Holdings in 2003, Mr. Alfonso held the executive positions of; senior vice president & principal with Platinum Equity, managing director with Hartford Life International and director of sales & marketing with American Bankers Insurance Group. Mr. Alfonso earned a bachelor's degree from Florida International University and an M.B.A. from the University of Miami. Outside his responsibilities at Empire Investment Holdings, Mr. Alfonso is involved in supporting various organizations and groups such as; the United Way, the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, Veterans of WWII and the Zoological Society of Florida. He has been a member of the FIU Foundation Board of Directors since September 2008. Mr. Alfonso resides in Miami. |
