Jorge J. Gonzalez (FIU, BA, '88)
President of City National Bank. Mr. Gonzalez has direct responsibility for regional administration and general bank operations including retail banking, business banking and commercial banking activities and he has been in banking for 18 years. He has spent more than 15 years with Wachovia and its predecessors, First Union and Southeast Bank, in increasingly senior positions, principally in the corporate banking area. Prior to City National, he spent XX at Wachovia Bank as Regional President, and two years at BankAtlantic. He earned a B.S. in Finance and International Business from Florida International University, and has also completed the Darden School Advanced Commercial Lending Program and the Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Leadership Training program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. A Miami native, Mr. Gonzalez is involved in the community including the Great Miami Chamber of Commerce, Board and Executive Committee member; Beacon Council of Miami-Dade County, Board and Executive Committee member; Young Presidents Organization – Miami & International Chapters, Member ; Dean’s Council for the College of Business at Florida International University, Member; Museum of Discovery and Science, Board Member; United Way of Miami-Dade County, Board Member; and Downtown Development Authority, Past Board Member. He has been a member of the FIU Foundation Board of Directors since November 2007. He is married to Melinda G. Brown-Gonzalez and they have two children: daughter Ella and son Jordan. The Gonzalez family resides in Miami.
