Lawrence (Larry) Kahn, III
Mr. Kahn has been the President and Chief Executive Officer since 1986 of Lowell Homes, Inc., a Florida corporation engaged in the business of homebuilding and community development. He also serves as a director of the Great Florida Bank and Woodbridge Holdings. His previous positions include Executive Vice President of Planned Development Corp. from 1974-1989 and Project Manager of U.S. Home Corp. from 1972 to 1974. In addition to serving on FIU's Foundation Board since March 2001 and Chair from 2006-2008, he is Vice Chairman of the Baptist Hospital Board of Director and is a past President of Builders Association of South Florida and a member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. He completed his B.A. at Amherst College in 1968 then received his M.B.A. from Harvard University School of Business in 1972. He graduated from Harvard with "Distinction" after receiving First and Second Year Honors. Mr. Kahn was previously Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Council for Amherst College, and on the Board of Directors of the City of Miami Downtown Development Authority and WPBT Channel 2. He was enrolled in the US Navy from 1968-1971 and was ranked Lieutenant at time of discharge. He served in Japan and South Vietnam. He was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee and has been a resident of South Florida since 1972. Mr. Kahn and his wife Susan have three children and are residents of Coral Gables.
